January mood

Starting January with some dramatic oil paintings. The one above is finished and just needs varnishing and framing but it’s still to wet to do so. It’s my favourite piece this year and I’m thinking of calling it Melancholy.
I spent in between Christmas and the new year snatching peaceful moments in my studio, working on a new body of work, with two more nearly finished.
Inspired by a particular drive on a beautiful misty morning, this one is actually called Driving Through The Mist. I remember clattering along the country roads in my old mini and just feeling so full of something- I don’t know if it was joy, comfort or wonder, but something just felt so right.
The happy accident shown above still needs my attention. It reminds me of a winters day, when the wind has finally claimed the leaves but the landscape is sitting quietly waiting for the cold to arrive.
I have a load of boards that have just arrived that need priming this week. For more studio updates, I post regularly on instagram stories. If you’d like to view artwork in person, please get in touch to book a visit to my studio in Bedfordshire.
